ONE-ROOM BLACK SCHOOL HOUSE ON BOND AVENUE
(Early 1900s)

Photograph of the one-room Black school building, built for the Black children of the Bond Avenue area in Reisterstown, Maryland in the early 1800s. It was located in the rear of St. Luke's United Methodist Church on Bond Avenue, and served the Black children in the area until the early 1900s, when a newer, 2-room Black school building was built on New Road. Unfortunately, in early 1997, St. Luke's United Methodist Church had this beautiful piece of history destroyed to make room for expansion of the church.
